5 Free Ways to Promote Your Business on Facebook

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

Facebook marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach out to potential customers and connect with them. Advertising can be expensive, so it is not always the best option for a new business. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still use the platform to promote your business.

  1. Create a Facebook page for your business.

    1. Make sure your about section and contact information is current.

    2. Make a post on your personal page about your new business with a link to your Facebook page.

    3. Invite people to like, follow or share your Facebook page.

  2. Share product updates, promotions., special events, etc., with your followers. Information can be presented in text, image, or video format. Share things that inspire you or industry news that is relevant. I highly recommend a behind-the-scenes series for businesses that deal with physical products, especially those you are making in-house. Engage your audience and encourage them to interact with your page. You can create a Facebook community that supports you and your business.

  3. Join Facebook groups. Please note: some groups allow people to join as their page names and some require you to join as your personal account. There are a couple of types of groups that can help you. See if there are local Facebook groups that allow for self-promotion. Post about your business and promotions in these groups. You can also join groups that are related to your field and take part in discussion. This gets your name out there. Follow the group rules and avoid spamming.

  4. Encourage your customers to leave reviews on your Facebook page. Positive reviews can help build trust and attract new customers.

  5. Follow Facebook pages (acting as your Facebook page, not your personal account) that are related to your field. If self-promotion is allowed, do it. If nothing else, you make connections and perhaps find potential collaborators in your niche.

Facebook Management Tip:

I love the Facebook post planner. You can prepare multiple posts in advance (like this one). and then just interact with your community once the post is published. I recommend checking your upcoming posts to make sure they are still relevant before it publishes. You can do a weekly or monthly check-in.
